One of the first obstacles to face before finally putting those pictures down in an album is choosing the colors that will go on the page. Choosing colors isn't as tricky as it seems, and these tried and true ideas will help you finish those scrapbooks in no time!

Option 1: Choose colors based on the theme of the event you are scrapping. For example: orange and black for Halloween, pink, yellow, and green for springtime, your school's colors, etc.

  2. Step 2

Option 2: Draw the colors from your pictures. The pictures you choose should be the main focus, not the colors, so choose two or three that stand out to you when you first glance at the photos.

  3. Step 3

Option 3: Choose a random color scheme; even if it doesn't have to do directly with the theme of the page, sometimes it's okay to change things up a bit. For example: contrasting colors, different shades of a similar color, or the ever-classy black and white.

A favorite fallback color scheme of mine is one my art teacher showed us back in high school; choose one color on the color wheel, look at the color directly across from it, and use the two colors on either side. Example: I choose purple as my first color, so I would look across to yellow, and choose yellow-green and yellow-orange as my next two.

  4. Step 4

Option 4: Find a printed paper you really like, and use matching solid colors. This way, no matter what colors you choose, they will all be tied together by the print.
