1
Write a well-written letter of inquiry to the University of your choice. Explain in detail why you want to be accepted in their university and what you think you would accomplish if you were to attend. Ask for information about what the admission's committee looks for, and tailor your academic program and extracurricular activities to those recommendations. At this time, request an application form.

2
Study for the standardized testing such as the SAT and ACT tests to get the highest score possible. This will help you be at the top of the list to get accepted into a top college. Enroll in tutoring services for the test you will be taking, and use the official guidebooks and websites to practice test questions.

3
Volunteer in your community and become an outstanding citizen. Volunteer experience is a plus on your college applications. Universities pay close attention to your life outside of the classroom. Your extracurricular activities reveal a great deal about you which will make them more interested in accepting you into their university.
-
4
Secure letters of recommendation from adults with whom you are close. A teacher of a subject in which you excel, or a mentor from an extracurricular activity is a good choice. Ask adults who know you well and have a good opinion of you.
-
5
Prepare for college auditions or interviews. If you will be meeting with the admissions committee, dress nicely. Before you go, consider what qualities would make you an asset to the school, and be sure to discuss those points doing the interview. Also be prepared to ask questions about the school, which will show maturity.
