How to Clean a Very Messy Room

Giving up your whole weekend to clean a very messy room is not a problem anymore. The key is to have a well thought out plan and just jump in.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

    First you want to put on your favorite music and go with the flow. Avoid answering the phone.

  2. Step 2

    Grab everything on the floor and place it on the bed or the couch.

  3. Step 3

    Go around the room and grab everything that is out of place and also put it on the bed or couch. Something about being able to move around the room without stepping on anything, let's you focus.

  4. Step 4

    Get a piece of paper and marker and name the piles. Example; Mom's stuff, kitchen and/or laundry room. Line them up on the floor.

  5. Step 5

    The key is, if you touch it, put it in it's designated pile. Do not pick up an item and move it to another spot. Keep doing this until the area is clear.

  6. Step 6

    Now that the bed or couch is clear, grab or designate a family member to put the piles in there correct space.

  7. Step 7

    Dust the furniture.

  8. Step 8

    Throw away any trash.

  9. Step 9

    Vacuum, polish or sweep the floor.

  10. Step 10

    Sit back and enjoy your newly cleaned room.

Tips & Warnings
  • Start early in the day. This will give you time to relax and enjoy your clean room.
  • If you have little one's the room can easily become messy again.
