Yellowstone National Park is one of those places that everyone should visit during their lifetime. If you are planning a trip soon, you should plan on visiting Yellowstone National Park. There is so much to see in Yellowstone: geysers, hot springs, buffalo, wolves, elk, rivers, and mountains. If you plan on taking a trip to Yellowstone National Park, be sure to give yourself plenty of time to see as many sites as possible.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Accommodations

Decide how much money you want to budget for your accommodations. When visiting Yellowstone National Park, there is a wide range of accommodations available. Depending on your budget, you can bring a tent and camp in the designated campgrounds, rent a cabin, or stay in one of the historic lodges in Yellowstone National Park.

  2. Step 2

    Visitor Centers

Decide which area of the park you want to spend your time in, and plan to visit the visitor centers in those areas. There are eight visitor centers and museums located within Yellowstone National Park, and they are all very different, so visit as many as you can.

  3. Step 3

    Things To Do

Plan out what activities you want to do during your trip to Yellowstone National Park. You can hike, fish, visit historical points of interest, picnic, see the famous Old Faithful geyser, tour the hot springs, camp, go horseback riding, and much more.

  4. Step 4

    Operating Season

Check the Yellowstone National Park website to find out when the park is open for visitors, and which gates are open to access the park. All the gates are not open year-round, so check ahead of time when you plan your trip.

  5. Step 5

    Additional Information

Look online and in books for additional information as you plan your trip to Yellowstone National Park. See the Resources section below for links to additional information.
