How to Earn More Frequent Flyer Miles

How to Earn More Frequent Flyer Milesthumbnail
Airline tickets can be earned by cashing in accrued airline miles.

Earning frequent flyer miles can result in free airline tickets, but it is not always possible to get the flight you want or need when using frequent flier miles. Many airlines have increased the minimum amount of miles required to redeem a flight, but there are ways to earn more frequent flier points to meet the demand of the airlines.

    Instructions

      • 1

Contact your mortgage company or landlord to inquire if your payment can be made via credit card. Once the payment is made to your landlord or mortgage company, immediately send payment to the credit card company. Paying the charge off immediately will eliminate any finance charges.

Pay your utility bills, buy groceries, gas and everything you can with your credit card. Utilities and groceries are often large expenses in a month and can quickly accrue miles. Do not forget to immediately send a check off to your credit card company to avoid any interest charges. You are using your credit card to earn the miles but if you do not pay off immediately, the credit card company will assess finance charges that can negate the benefit of earning the miles.

Contact your frequent flier miles and inquire about partners who may offer additional frequent flier bonuses. This could be a specific hotel chain or merchants who have partnered with the airline. Be careful here so you aren't spending more money than you normally would to earn the points but if the airline company has a partner and you would purchase the item anyway, consider purchasing to earn the points.

    Tips & Warnings

    • Frequent flier miles expire so make sure to watch the expiration, and cash in the points for merchandise if you are unable to fly.
