Most of us want a good spouse, but finding one is simpler than you think. It is like finding an employee, you need to ask the right questions.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Questions- you know those important ones
  • Communication
  • List of your likes and dislikes
  • List of your values
  1. Step 1

First, it is important to know before you go fishing, for a spouse, what type of fish do you want. So first off, I want you to list the type of person you would like to marry. Be very specific, most people aim to spend the rest of your life with them. Also make sure you put what you want their values to be. Example, honest, faithful, etc. So MAKE A LIST. If you know you hate smoking put that on the list, non-smoker. Of course life happens and you could find someone that you love, but they smoke and you become ok with that. In general, what type of person is easier for you to get along with. On this step remember you are special and desire someone special.

  2. Step 2

Next I need you to make a list of all your great qualities.

  3. Step 3

Next go searching, remember where you fish is important to the quality of fish you get. If you do not want your future spouse to party too much. Do not try to find your spouse in a bar. Sporting events, social groups, charity events, volunteer, church functions are all good places. Get involved doing stuff you enjoy, so when you meet someone at the event, at least you know you share one thing in common.

  4. Step 4

Now you found someone and they are mostly the type of person you are looking for. Of course no one is perfect, but right for you is great. You decide it is time to take it more seriously. It is time to ask those questions, that are not on your list of qualities. Have you had any STDS? Have you ever been in jail? What do you think about household chores? Do you think women should work? What type of discipline for children do you believe in? Do you want to get married? If you want to get married and they never do, cut your loses and go back searching. Look online and you can find many sites that give you more engagement type questions. Remember you do not want any surprises later, like he/she has a child you did not ask about. This is especially helpful if you met online. Online is a great place to play, but it is not really the most honest arena for social relationships, bad habits are hidden. You only see what that person wants you to see. Also talk to family and friends of your future intended.

  5. Step 5

I also found this advice great.. Have good friends, and then Marry a friend. So when you go through hard times, at least you know this person is a great friend and someone you can count on. Happy Fishing!! You deserve the best.

Tips & Warnings
  • While you are fishing for a spouse, nurture you and your interests.
  • Two whole people make a whole marriage, two half people do not make a whole, they make a broken marriage in the end.
  • If you have issues that are keeping you from a serious relationship seek advice, and counseling as needed.
  • BE on the look out for hints of damaging habits that damage a relationship: selfishness, lying, unfaithfulness, etc.
  • Remember dating, everyone is on their best behavior, bad habits will become full blown in a serious relationship.
  • If this person ever inflicts bodily harm on you, seek help.

on 5/28/2009 Good article on finding a good spouce. I know this doesn't work for everyone. But I just knew when I met my husband. Three days later I moved in to his apartment while he was at work. Strange thing he didn't say much when he got home. He was thankful I cleaned the apartment and put in airconditing. 11 years latter I'm still a very lucky lady.
