How to Delete Cookies In The Safari Internet Browser

Cookies are bits of information that are stored on your computer by the websites you visit on a regular basis. Some cookies are handy, and they allow you to return to a website without re-logging in. Other cookies may track your web habits. And, by accessing the cookies on your browser, a person can have a good idea of where you have been on the internet, even if you have cleared your browser's history. Here's how to delete one, some, or all of your cookies in the Safari browser.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Open Safari. Under the Safari pull down menu, select "Preferences..."

  2. Step 2

    In the pop up window that appears, click on the Security icon (a lock with the word Security under it)

  3. Step 3

    Click on the Show Cookies button.

  4. Step 4

    The pane that appears shows all the cookies that have accumulated in your browser since your Browser was last reset or the cookies were last deleted.

  5. Step 5

    Make sure the cookies are organized by Website (alphabetically) and scroll up and down the list of cookies to see which cookies you want to save or delete.

  6. Step 6

    You can search for cookies from specific sites using the search bar in the upper right of the window.

  7. Step 7

    Select a cookie by clicking on it once.

  8. Step 8

    Select multiple cookies by holding down the command key as you click.

  9. Step 9

    Hit the remove button to remove the selected cookie or cookies.

  10. Step 10

    Select remove all to remove all your cookies. This will clear log in data from every site you visit.

  11. Step 11

    Click done when you are finished.

  12. Step 12

    Close the security preferences pane.
