Know When You Are Ovulating

Ovulation normally occurs every month, when one of the eggs is released from the ovaries and travels down through the fallopian tubes. Women usually experience certain physical signs when they are ovulating. Regularly following these simple steps will help keep you up-to-date on the physical changes your body is undergoing when important changes are taking place.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Take your temperature every morning when you wake up, before getting out of bed or using the bathroom. Your temperature will drop slightly right before you ovulate, and then will rise. It will continue to rise on the following two days, and will register about 0.4 to 0.6 degrees higher than your normal temperature.

  2. Step 2

Observe any abdominal discomfort. Some women experience a sharp pain in their lower abdomen when they begin to ovulate. You may also get a pain on either side of your lower back. The pain should only last a brief time.

  3. Step 3

Be aware of discharge. Cervical mucus becomes thinner and more watery as ovulation approaches. At ovulation, it resembles raw egg whites in consistency.

  4. Step 4

Notice any changes in cervix color, which also indicate ovulation. The normal color is pink; when you ovulate, the color becomes pale or bluish.

Tips & Warnings
  • Ovulation usually occurs midcycle. If your cycle is 28 days and you are regular, then you would ovulate on day 14.
  • If you are trying to avoid pregnancy or to get pregnant, ovulation kits are sold that help you determine exactly when you ovulate.

on 9/6/2009 Hey Ladies! Congratulations to everyone trying for a baby! Even though no one is ever truly ready for a baby, its is a gift from god and should be treated as such. My husband and I are trying for the 3rd time to become pregnant after having two miscarriages which were very painful. Now I’m not a doctor but I do believe in Natural Remedies. One is on the market it’s a progesterone cream that research as show to help improve fertility taken at certain times. The ladies that have been trying with out luck, please ask your doctor about checking the levels of your hormones and see if this product may help you to conceive. Best Wishes All!

on 4/3/2009 1st off GREAT ARTICLE!! 5* 2nd, about some of the comments, thetrueross - Do you feel your girl "entrapped you" with pregnancy? If you don't want to hear about pregnancy and people trying to become pregnant DONT POST on a how-to-get-pregnant article post on a how-to-not-get-pregnant article. People here feel mature enough, and intelligent enough to have a baby otherwise we wouldn't be here. It's insulting

on 2/10/2009 Try maturing before having a child.. You need to be financially secure or you'll be poor your whole life. Is that any way to treat a child? Making it grow up poor and less likely to be any kind of success in life? If you want some meaning in life try joining a cause. Work on something to better the world. I hope you've all discussed with your bf's that your trying to get pregnant... It would seem very stupid otherwise. Entrapping someone in a relationship is really stupid. You'll never be truly happy and do a lot of things out of guilt. Is that a way you want to live the rest of your life? There is something missing from your lives because you don't have a purpose. You need a drive, something you care passionately about. Don't focus on what you don't have or can't be doing. Focus on things you can do and enjoy doing. Help someone, learn about an issue, stand up for someone we
