I have pached a lot of holes in my day.

I will show you how to patch a hole in drywall. This method you will not need tape, screws, nails, studs, or wood strips.
This is a professional Blowout patch...

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 4 inch, a 8 to 12 inch Drywall knives, mud pan.
  • you can use a spatula for and a cookie sheet as a pan if you don't have the right tools.
  1. Step 1

Measure the widest part of hole and write it down.

  2. Step 2

Go to Drywallstuff.com and click on order wall patch.
Type in the measurement of the hole.
Example 4x5 then click on the picture of patch.

  3. Step 3

When you get the patch in the mail. Hold it over the hole and trace around the back of the patch with a pencil to make lines on the wall around the hole to follow when you cut it out.

  4. Step 4

use a key hole saw or a utility knife to cut out the drywall where the patch will go. cut on the outside of the lines , so the patch will fit easily.

  5. Step 5

Test the patch to see if it will fit in the hole you just cut. be sure the patch will fit before the next step.

  6. Step 6

Use your 4 inch knife to place compound around the inside edge of the hole, and around the hole. don't leave any bare spots without mud or it will blister after it dries.

  8. Step 8
    mud the sides of patch

Place compound around the inside edge of the patch along the exposed rock.

  9. Step 9

Place the patch in the hole, and wipe away the excess compound and let dry.

  10. Step 10

After the patch has dried, use your knife to scrape away any boogers of dried mud you may have left behind.

  11. Step 11

mix the next bag of compound in your pan to apply your second coat.

  12. Step 12

Use your wide drywall knife to smooth on your second coat. This coat is to hide the patch by feathering out the compound. The compound will be much wider than the patch, and feathering the mud out will hide the patch.
    let dry.

  13. Step 13

when the second coat is dried, now you can sand it smooth and apply the skim coat with compound to hide any imperfections.

  14. Step 14

after the skim coat has dried, now you can sand one more time with 120 grit sand paper.

  15. Step 15
Pull your mud smooth so it will be easy to sand.
Pull your mud smooth so it will be easy to sand.

After it is sanded smooth, brush away any dust and then use a coat of primer. If you can see any flaws in the wall where the patch was you can skim and sand it again. If you have to repeat this step over until the patch is not noticeable.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you dont have the tools for the job, you can buy them at drywallstuff.com or use some household utenciles, like a spatula for your small mud knife and a cookie sheet for a mud pan and a straight edge for the wide knife. this will work, but it will take more sanding to get smooth.
  • while sanding wear a dust mask and cover and electronics with plastic.
