Infant Car Seat Recalls

To be alerted of problems with your baby's carseat, you need to register it with the car seat manufacturer. This article provides the steps for registering your car seat.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

GATHER ALL THE INFORMATION NEEDED FOR CHILD RESTRAINT REGISTRATION.

Below is all the info that you will need:

    *Your Name
    *Your current mailing address
*Manufacturer’s Name (Example: Graco, Britax, Evenflo, Combi, etc.)
*Date of Manufacture (Example: Label says “Manufactured in” )
    *Model Number (Example: 8643CDR2, 808688, 317147P1, etc.)
*Model Name (if known) (Example: Snugride, Centre EX, Embrace, etc.)

  2. Step 2

REGISTER THE CAR SEAT WITH THE CAR SEAT MANUFACTURER.

Most new car seats come with registration cards that you can fill out and mail back to the manufacturer. The following companies have online car seat registration available:

    Britax
    Chicco
    Combi
    Compass
    Dorel
    Evenflo
    Graco
    miaModa
    Orbit baby
    Peg Perego

  3. Step 3

FILL OUT A REGISTRATION FORM AND MAIL TO THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION (NHTSA) IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO REGISTER USING THE METHODS IN PREVIOUS STEP.

A link to this form is in the "resources section below". After filling it out, mail it to NHTSA (address on form) and they will send it to the appropriate car seat manufacturer on your behalf.
