1
At the location where you have decided to place your waterfall, build up the side of your pond so that you'll have an incline for the water to run down.
-
2
Dig out the path you want the water to follow down the incline.
-
-
3
Put your pump in place at the top of the water fall. Fill in the soil along three sides of the pump, leaving only the front end, where the water will be falling, open.
-
4
Lay your pond liner in place, making sure to allow for splashing as the water falls down the incline. Also, make sure you overlap the liner serving the waterfall with the liner serving the pond itself. Otherwise, you will lose water to leakage where the waterfall and the pond come together.
-
5
Place the rocks on top of the pond liner, arranging them so that they look natural and pleasing to the eye.
-
6
Use black waterfall foam to seal the rocks in place.
-
7
Turn your pump on and watch your waterfall start to gurgle.

Tips & Warnings
Take the time to plan out the scope of your waterfall before you start the project.
As with a pond, a waterfall is an artistic expression. It can be shaped and sloped anyway you want it to be. Play with different ideas and layouts until you find the one that suites your tastes. Have fun with the project, but try to do your planning before you start digging.
Because you'll be moving heavy objects like rocks around to complete your waterfall project, make sure to have plenty of able-bodied help available.
Be certain to match the size of your waterfall to the size of your pond so they appear natural and well-suited to one another.
Make sure that you have a grounded electrical outlet near your waterfall so that you can plug your pump in safely.
As with any other building project, make sure that you have obtained any permissions or permits that your locality requires before you start construction.
Make sure you know where any underground utilities are located so that you don't damage any of them.
