Old home movies or damaged VHS tapes may need to be dubbed to prevent further wear and tear on those beloved images. A simple hookup involving two VCRs and a small television will let you dub and monitor the progress at the same time.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Two working vcrs (any brand)
  • Two audio/video cables
  • One television
  1. Step 1

Attach the first cable to VCR One's VHF/UHF output jack (usually located in the rear of the vcr).

  2. Step 2

Attach the other end to the TV's VHF/UHF or ANT IN port (usually located in the back of the TV. VCR One will serve as your recorder in the dubbing process.

  3. Step 3

Attach one end of the second cable to the ANT IN port on the back of VCR One; attach the second end to the TV OUt jack (usually in the back) of VCR Two. VCR Two will play the tape you're recording.

  4. Step 4

Set VCR Two to play on channel three or four; make sure VCR One is set to record on the same channel. Set the VCR One's tape speed to the desired setting (SLP maximizes tape room, SP means fewer hours per tape) before each recording.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure you have an power outlet with enough space to hook up all three devices.
