Choosing a career is a very important decision. It is certainly one of the most important decisions most people will make. Maybe that is one of the reasons people feel overwhelmed by having to make this choice. This article aims to help undecided minds make a decision.

      First of all you need to ask yourself:

      WHAT DO I WANT?

      What are the activities you like to participate in.
      What are your hobbies.
      What are your dreams and objectives.
      What is the kind of work you would like. On the move? Stationary? Physical? Mental? Both? Diverse? Complex? Simple? Easy? Challenging? Time-consuming? Not so time consuming? Take home work? Just workplace job? At-home job? Your own business? A partnership? All these questions are important.

      WHAT DO I NEED?

      What are your financial goals.

      What is the minimum amount of salary you would need to fulfill your needs.

      Job benefits.

      Time and effort you would dedicate to your job.

      SKILLS AND POSSIBILITIES

      What are your skills? Can you work for hours without rest? are you a perfectionist? Do you have integrity? Can you do things faster than other people? Can you do them better? Are you good at many different things? Do you enjoys things that others don't? Are you good at communicating ideas?

      If you know it could be impossible for you to do what you want to do then you should have a plan B. This does not mean you should not aim high, it means you need a catching net to sustain you as you climb or fall.

      Account for different possibilities such as having to sustain a family or a difficult job environment such as a recession.

      Are you good at what you would like to do? This would certainly help you throughout career. If you are very bad then practice. If you practice every day and you are still bad, then keep practicing. If you never become better, then practice patience because it might take much longer for you to accomplish your goals.

      Do you like two different jobs? Then maybe you could combine them! Always think about all the possibilities instead of just probabilities.
