Everywhere you go these days, you are tempted by things you do not need. Advertisers rely on people who make impulse purchases on a daily basis. Here a simple ways to avoid impulse purchases.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Avoid shopping with a huge shopping cart. Try to not use a cart a all, or use a hand held basket. You can't fit much in a hand held basket, so you will not purchase as much.

  2. Step 2

Make a shopping list, and stick to it. Impulse purchases, are, technically, unplanned, spontaneous purchases. You can avoid on the whim purchases by having a plan before you enter the store. Stick to your shopping list, and don't purchase anything that is not on your list.

  3. Step 3

Start at the back of the store and move forward. This way, you are always making your towards the exit, and will not be tempted to go all the way to the back of store for an unnecessary purchase.

  4. Step 4

Avoid going to grocery stores or the mall, just to go. By not going to the stores, you eliminate the temptation all together. You really can save a lot of money by just doing something else, other than "shopping."
