First, you have to recognize that forgiveness is a great release. When you forgive someone that has wronged you, you feel much better after, because you get it off of your shoulders.

Second, realize that the person that hurt you needs to be freed from the energy by your forgivness. By forgiving the person you set you and the other person free of the illusion you both created for yourselves. How do you forgive when it's hard? Well you have to be understanding and know that all is well.

Third, realize that the person that you are forgiving has lessons to learn about life, and so do you. When you realzie that you are both here to learn lessons, no matter how difficult, you stand a better chance to forgive and forget. You have to be humble and know that people make mistakes and acknowledge them, learn, and move on. This is how you forgive people.
