TAKE THE FERRY - If you're planning to travel from Oahu to Kahului on the island of Maui, you can take the Hawaii Superferry. Allow extra time in your schedule as the trip by ferry takes 3.5 hours from Oahu to Maui with the return trip to Oahu taking approximately 3 hours.
Prices begin at $39 each way. If you are at least 18 years old, you can take a vehicle on board the ferry with proper registration and proof of insurance. Pay an additional $56 to $67 each way for the vehicle.
For those wishing to travel to the Big Island of Hawaii, you should know the Hawaii Superferry is scheduled to add Hawaii to their route by 2010. Find more details by going online to hawaiisuperferry.com.
NOTE: Updated as of March 26, 2009. Hawaii Superferry has pulled out of the Hawaiian Islands. Not on their own accord, but due to a disagreement over an EPA study that apparently wasn't completed; the courts shut them down.
