How to Find a Hole in an Air Mattress
Ever go to sleep on an air mattress only to wake up and find yourself on the floor? Too bad department stores will not let you return it for a refund. The only thing to do is fix it with a patch kit. First, you have to find those holes. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Inflate the air mattress by mouth or with an air pump. You do not have to inflate it to its full capacity, but just enough so you can put pressure on one end of the mattress so air will come out.
-
2
Add a small amount of dish soap to a sponge and soak it with water.
-
-
3
Wipe the wet sponge over a small area of the mattress, starting at one of the corners. Have a helper sit at the opposite end to put pressure where you are wiping. You will know when you have found a hole when the water on the mattress starts to bubble. If you do not have someone to help you, use an automatic air pump and let it run.
-
4
Move around the entire mattress, wetting it with the sponge until you find all the holes. Dry and patch each hole.
-
5
Turn the air mattress over when all of the patches have dried and repeat the process.

Tips & Warnings
Be sure to go over all the seams carefully.
To be extra sure you have gotten all the holes, inflate the mattress. Put pressure on it as you go around and listen to see if you can hear any air seeping out.

We went camping every year as a family and inevitably, one or more of us ended up on the hard ground because the air mattress sprung a leak. Your steps do work! -
