Step 1
Learn as much as you can about interviewers perspective on the topic. If you can speak to the person ahead of time, do so. If you can get a copy of the questions, or ask to help write the questions, do so.
-
Step 2
Establish your talking points and talk through them with a supportive friend or coworker. Be careful not to sound practiced. Ask your friend or coworkers to ask you questions about the topic so you can practice what you would say to the unexpected questions.
-
Step 3
Film yourself to get an idea of your cadence and how you look best. If you have received input in the past that you talk very fast or slow, you may want to be careful about this.
-
Step 4
Watch the news anchors and speak along with them to get an idea of their cadence and emphasis within sentences. Watch how much head movement or hand movements that news anchors made. They are the experts on how to speak on TV!
-
Step 5
Remember to be yourself, you were asked to do this for a reason, let that reason shine through!
