Things You'll Need:
- Hot glue gun
- tooth pick
-
Step 1
Clip ons are becoming almost impossible to find in the jewelry, earring department stores so I can instruct you how to make your own. These will be economical, durable and a one of a kind costume jewelry piece you will be proud to wear.
-
Step 2
Many online vendors provide already made clip back earring pieces in white gold, yellow gold and silver. These are called "findings" and the start for your clip ons. Select the metal you wish to use, making sure you select the proper dangle or non dangle finding for your clip ons. I will assist you with the basic instruction for non dangle, however you can easily add the dangle if desired.
-
Step 3
All semi precious, precious, gemstones and natural stones can be considered. I would suggest something simple and inexpensive for the trial event of making clip ons. With practice, the higher priced stones can be made into clip ons in the future as you gain experience. Jewelry making is an art and takes some time to get the feel for the tools and the design for making any jewelry piece.
-
Step 4
On a towel or clean cloth, arrange your stones as you would like them to be placed on your clip on finding. Design is vital for the stones to compliment the setting, so with that said, be creative. When you are content with your creation, place the stone or stones in the clip on finding to view how it will look. Carefully remove and begin securing the stones in place.
-
Step 5
With your hot glue gun, using enough glue to secure the stones without being sloppy, place the stones on your clip on earring finding. Remove excess with tooth pick to fully admire your newly designed, created fashion clip on earrings.

on 3/8/2009 My daughter wants her ears pierced and we thought clip-ons would be good to start with to see if she could keep up with them, etc. We can't find any. Thanks for the helpful article. 5*
