Things You'll Need:
- Comfortable cushion or stool
- Fifteen to twenty minutes
-
Step 1
Choose the right time to give your dog a massage. You know your dog the best, so it will be easy for you to pick a time when your dog will be calm and rested. The best time to do this is after his daily walk or after you have fed your dog.
-
Step 2
Start by finding a comfortable place to sit. You have to feel relaxed in order to give your dog a good massage. If you are going to sit on the floor, find a cushion or stool to sit on. Keep in mind that the massage should be approximately fifteen minutes long.
-
Step 3
Begin the massage by applying a small amount of pressure with both thumbs behind your dog’s ears. Move your thumbs in a circular motion for a few minutes until you start to feel your dog relax. Continue by moving your thumbs down to the collar/neck area of your dog. Continue the same movement and apply a little bit more pressure. As you move down to your dog’s back, begin using your fingertips to move in a circular motion and massage your dog’s back. Keep in mind that your dog might roll over and lay on his back during the message. That is just a sign that your dog is enjoying the massage. Wait until your dog sits up again to continue.
-
Step 4
Once you have massaged your dog’s entire body, you can start all over again. You can also make the massage part of your at home spa treatment and follow up by bathing your dog and clipping his nails. Either way, your dog will appreciate that you have taken the time to pamper him.
