This article will show you how to get your pictures to show up when you open the folder. You may run into a problem where the pictures show up as icons, but you can not see what the picture is. The options at the top of the windows for slide show and views do not work.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Windows Vista
  1. Step 1

Get to your control panel by clicking on the start menu and control panel.

  2. Step 2

The control panel has two views 'Control Panel Home' and 'Classic View'. Click on 'Control Panel Home'

  3. Step 3

Now click on 'Appearance and Personalization' then on 'Folder Options'.

  4. Step 4

Click the 'View' tab on the folder options popup then uncheck the first checkbox "Always show icons, never thumbnails"

  5. Step 5

For some reason ehow thinks that more words must mean better so here goes.

    * There are some other options in the view tab that might be helpful to you such as the "Show hidden files and folder"
    * uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types" is also very useful when you want to change the extension of a file such as a .txt file to a .bat file.
