How to Dress for Black Tie Affair

So that upcoming even says "black tie" and you're not quite sure what that means. Well your tie doesn't necessarily have to be black but you can bet it's formal.

1. For a man this means a super sharp suit or tuxedo. Usually the jacket, pants and shoes are black. You can pick a different color tie but your cummerbund should match. I would avoid loud colors and noisy patterns.

2. If you do not own a snazzy suit you will want to rent one. If this is during a high traffic time like prom, Christmas, New Years Eve or during wedding season you will want to schedule your fitting way ahead of time. Make sure you try your it on prior to the event to make adjustments if necessary.

3. For a lady a black tie events usually involve a long gown, a dressy short dress or for the more modern lady can include a fancy pant suit.

4. Accessories are fancier and a purse if carried should be in the form of a clutch handbag or small shoulder strap bag. For shoes something elegant in a heel. Just remember if standing or dancing to make it a comfortable pair of heels!
