Things You'll Need:
- sand paper
- primer
- paint
-
Step 1
Put a tarp down under your object. This will protect your driveway or floor from the metal scrapings.
-
Step 2
Sandpaper the rust until it is gone. When you are done, use canned air to blow the dust off the area. If you leave dust there, you will have to start this process again to remove the clogs in the paint.
-
Step 3
If there are any small holes left behind, you can use bondo or a similar substance to repair and close the holes.
-
Step 4
After the bondo has dried, apply the primer. Allow the primer to dry.
-
Step 5
Choose a color that matches the paint job. If this is a smaller home item you can always choose whatever paint you like and repaint the entire object. Paint over the area. You can also look for automobile touch up pens carried by the manafacturer of your automobile to match the paint exactly.
