I noticed that the easiest way to stay awake after lunch is to eat a smaller lunch in the first place. The theory of if you eat a lot, you will sleep a lot applies here.

However, if you ate a big lunch, what should you do? The obvious choice is coffee, but I actually found that gulping a cup of ice cold water works better, and I do mean gulp it down, not sip it. The act of just walking over to the water dispenser should help you stay awake a little bit.

If that doesn't help, take a stroll in the parking lot. A quick walk around the lot is sure to help you stay awake. Alternatively, go surf online for a bit, find something you are interested in and browse. Try to keep you brain active and busy.

If all else fails, take a quick 3-5 minute nap. Recharging is important. This may sound ridiculous but you probably don't want to get caught sleeping on your desk, so the next best place is the bathroom. Go to a bathroom stall, sit there and take your 5 minute nap, nobody will notice you were gone and you will come out awake and refreshed, at least your brain will!
