At most full service hotels, a concierge--or a few concierges--will be available for hotel guests in the lobby. Many people do not use them, but concierges are a great tool to make your stay a fantastic one! Here are some of the services you can utilize your concierge for. Tipping is not required, but it is definitely recommended if he or she pulls some big strings for you!

Things You'll Need:

  • Concierge
  1. Step 1

First you should check if your hotel offers concierge service. If not, the hotel's front desk staff should be able to accommodate some of your requests.

  2. Step 2

Ask your concierge to recommend restaurants for you to dine at. The concierge will usually know about the best restaurants in town and will be able to book a reservation for you. If it's a really popular place that is fully booked up for the evening, the concierge may know someone at the restaurant that can get you a table! You can specify what kind of dining experience you are seeking--romantic, casual, formal, inexpensive, etc. You can also specify what kind of food you prefer, and he or she will be able to find you a restaurant!

  3. Step 3

Ask your concierge if there are any nightclubs in the area. Similarly to the restaurant scenario above, he or she may be able to get you on a VIP guest list for reduced or free admission if he or she knows someone working at the club! Your concierge will also tell you about the dress code, atmosphere, and drink prices if it is a club he or she is familiar with.

  4. Step 4

Your concierge will certainly know about the biggest attractions in the area. Ask your concierge what kinds of places you should visit based on your liking. If you are looking for sightseeing, ask the concierge what he or she recommends. You may even ask something as simple as where to go for a jog.

  5. Step 5

Your concierge can help you surprise your travelmate. If it is his/her birthday or your anniversary, you can ask your concierge to send a surprise or a bunch of surprises up to the room. (Roses, champagne, cake, etc.)
