Things You'll Need:
- Phillips screwdriver
-
Step 1
Open the door where you want the lock to be removed. Turn the door knob clockwise to set the lock in locking mode. You will know this when the lock bolt sticks out from the side of the door as well as when the screws that are holding the lock together are exposed. (See picture on the left)
-
Step 2
With a Phillips screwdriver on one hand, remove the screws on the inside panel of the door lock. (See picture on the left)
-
Step 3
As the screws loosen up, finish unscrewing them with your fingers on one hand. Using your other hand, hold the parts of the lock from both sides as you are working with the screwdriver. After you unscrew it, the lock should come out from both sides. (See picture on the left)
-
Step 4
Remove the screws from the lock mechanism plate on the edge of the door, and then pull it out from the side. (See picture on the left)
-
Step 5
After the door lock has been removed, the hole where the old lock as been will be exposed. You can then proceed to put your new lock in. (See picture on the left)
