Things You'll Need:
- straight edge
- utility knife with a new blade
- pencil
-
Step 1
Get your measurement and subtract 1/8" so it won't be too tight when you install the tile, mark both side of the ceiling tile with your pencil, lay the tile down on a clean and flat surface.
-
Step 2
Put your straight edge on the marks and score the top of the tile, when you score the ceiling tile try to cut slowly in a sawing motion cause the tile tend to crumble.
-
Step 3
You can take the straight edge away and cut in deeper with your utility knife only if you have a new blade on your knife because your knife will rip the tile apart if the blade is dull.
-
Step 4
You can turn the ceiling tile over to the other side, put your straight edge to the marks and score slowly in a sawing motion.
-
Step 5
Pick up the ceiling tile and break off the piece that you do not need, use your utility knife and clean up the edges then try to install it to see if it would fit.
