Things You'll Need:
- a twitter account
- a blog or a web page
-
Step 1
Log in to your twitter account and visit the page http://twitter.com/badges/.
-
Step 2
CHOOSE YOUR DESTINATION: Choose the blog tool (blogger or typepad) or social networking page (facebook or myspace) you use. (Choose OTHER if you want to add the feed using Flash or HTML code to your WordPress blog, another web tool, or any web page web page at all.) Then click CONTINUE.
-
Step 3
CHOOSE NUMBER OF UPDDATES: Choose the number of updates you want to appear in your blog from the pulldown menu at the top of the page.
-
Step 4
NAME YOUR FEED: At some point, you may be able to choose the title heading that will appear in your blog above the twitter feeds: Twitter Updates is the default, but you can change it to read anything you want, (such as What I'm Doing Now) or click the box to choose to have no title at all.
-
Step 5
INSTALL THE WIDGET: Now click the button that indicates that twitter will install the widget on your blog tool. Some tools are completely integrated, and you won't have to copy or paste any code at all. In that case, twitter will guide you through the process of logging into your blog tool and adding it.
-
Step 6
COPY AND PASTE CODE: Some sites require that you copy and paste code. It's easy, so don't panic! Just follow the specific instructions given. For example, in MySpace you'll need to copy the code, login to MySpace, edit your profile, and paste the code into one of the boxes provided. I pasted mine in the About Me box, under my brief bio. (I'm "missadventuring" on MySpace.) But I had to add a couple of "break" html tags to separate it down a bit from my bio.
-
Step 7
INSTALLING THE WIDGET ON YOUR WEB PAGE: If you chose OTHER, you'll need to copy and paste code into your web page. You're kind of on your own here, as you might be using WordPress or HTML or Dreamweaver or who-knows-what to create your page. If you are, you, or you friendly resident teenager (or teen-equivalent, a.k.a. webmaster), knows what to do.
-
Step 8
REORDER YOUR CONTENT: In some tools, like TypePad, you'll be able to arrange or reorder content so that your twitter updates appear where you want them to - in the left or right nav bar, for example. SAVE it when you're done. If you're using facebook or myspace, this is where you give twitter the go-ahead to put the feeds in the What are you doing now? area.
-
Step 9
That's it! Now your friends and followers can keep up with you on your blog, your social networking pages, and their mobile devices!
