Sewing chair cushions for your home, might sound like a big job at first. I can make this an easy and enjoyable project for anyone wanting or needing to have this experience. This is a money saving activity the family can work together to complete.

Chair cushions are such a pleasing addition to your home decor. Determine what size cushions you need by measuring the seat of the chair. Leave another 2 inches for your seam before cutting the material. The cushion should cover or be slightly smaller than the seat of the chair you are sewing the cushion for now.

If your want to put cording along the edges of your chair cushion, measure and place that along the edges of the fabric. If you want to omit this cording, sew the fabric pieces to each other. You will be working with the wrong side of the material so the seams do not show where you sew. Sew two rows of stitches, for every part of the cushion, very close together for security of the seams. Leave part of one of the sides open to put new foam in or replace the foam you removed. Turn your case right side out and insert the foam or stuffing you wish to use as padding.
-
4
Carefully stitch, by hand the area that is still open using "blind stitching". This is sewing from the inside to conceal the thread. Fluff or bring the foam to the edges of the chair cushion and place on chair.
