Design a Cathedral Room Wall Mural

Having cathedral room adds architectural beauty to any home. Now, what do you do with all that additional wall space? You certainly don't want to be on a ladder dusting and cleaning hanging art work. In this article you will see how a little paint and imagination will turn your walls into a masterpiece showcase!

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Tall ladder
  • 2 paint colors that are of the same color but different shades
  • Dual paint roller for faux finish effects
  • Masking tape
  • Yard stick
  • Stencils and stencil paint
  1. Step 1

Paint your base color on the walls.

  2. Step 2

Tape off a frame on this wall with masking tape. Using your dual roller paint over this taped section to create a faux finish effect. Try to choose colors that are not too contrasting to not create too busy of a look. Let dry at least over night before stenciling.

  3. Step 3

Tape off and paint your stencils. I had used my second paint color as a back ground for these stencils. These topiaries had been framed with a picture frame stencil.

  4. Step 4

Accent other areas in the room using a similar stencil design. This will help to tie together a big room with a lot of wall space.

  5. Step 5

Extend your pattern and theme into the hallway to make it a one of a kind design.

  6. Step 6

Adding special features to a room can be time consuming but the beauty will be enjoyed by you and many for years to come. You will also save a fortune by purchasing the items and doing it yourself.

Tips & Warnings
  • Using gold stencil paint on your picture frame stencil will add a wonderful sheen and special effect to this look.
  • Creative decorating can be addictive!
