Resist the fries!
Resist the fries!

It’s easy to get tempted by the French fries at your local fast-food restaurant, but with so many menu choices now available it’s now easy to eat a healthier meal . Here are some ways to make better choices.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Always choose grilled chicken instead of fried.

  2. Step 2

Ask to hold condiment toppings like mayonnaise or tartar sauce and opt for ketchup or mustard which is lower in fat instead. Ask for extra lettuce or tomatoes instead.

  3. Step 3

Remove the bun which is usually white bread and lacks very much nutritional value.

  4. Step 4

Swap sugary soda for water or low-fat milk.

  5. Step 5

Choose a baked potato, salad or fruit cup instead of French fries.

  6. Step 6

When ordering salads, watch out for extras such as cheese, bacon or heavy dressings that add additional grams of fat. Always get the low-fat or lite variety when requesting salad dressing.

  7. Step 7

Order the kid's sized meal which has smaller portions.

  8. Step 8

Read the nutritional value that is printed on the containers or the tray. It is surprising to see the caloric value and fat grams of commonly ordered items!
