Be a Better Baseball Hitter
Be a Better Baseball Hitter

You will become better at baseball hitting if you practice these balanced training techniques over and over again

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Time, focus en persistence
  • Basic baseball equipment
  1. Step 1

America’s greatest pastime is always popular, and it’s time for some baseball hitting tips.

When choosing a bat, choose one with a comfortable swing. There is no such thing as a “universal bat”. Bat style and size should be chosen by the individual batter for maximum comfort and bat speed. When gripping the bat, you should have a grip that allows optimum dexterity for the hands, wrists, and forearms. Grip the bat with your fingers, not your palms. Doing this is guaranteed to put a little snap in your swing.

  2. Step 2

Find a comfortable stance, where your weight is evenly distributed. You don’t want to put too much weight on your front leg because this will leave you with no power to hit the ball. Before the ball arrives, try to have a majority of your weight on your back leg. As you swing, try to shift your weight to your front leg just as the ball arrives. This will give you maximum hitting power.

  3. Step 3

The shortest distance between two points is a straight line, and you should try to apply that with your swing. When you swing your bat, try to avoid the extra swinging distance that comes with the motion of swinging up or swinging down. Take the shortest distance to contact. The directional hitting comes from your body motion. If you want to hit the ball in a certain direction, try to position your hips to point in the direction you are aiming at. When you do this, follow through with your swing, which means don’t stop the swing when your hips stop.

  4. Step 4

Something I haven’t discussed at this point is loading the bat. A load is simply a small movement with the hands or arms with the bat to prepare for the swing. Every batter has a different load, but the most successful ones try to avoid large movement in their load.

Tips & Warnings
  • Good baseball hitting takes good eye coordination, and lots of practice. Like anything, the more you practice these techniques, the more proficient at swinging the bat you will become.
