Fried, deviled eggs are delicious and actually pretty easy to make. They're a hit at parties and around the holidays instead of traditional deviled eggs.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 10 eggs to boil
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon of chopped chives
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1 cup regular flour
  • 2 beaten eggs
  • 1 cup of panko crumbs
  • Oil to fry with (peanut works well but you can use vegetable oil, too)
  • Frying pan or deep fryer
  1. Step 1

    Hard-boil the eggs

  2. Step 2

Peel the eggs, slice them length-wise, and put the yolks in a mixing bowl.

  3. Step 3

For the filling: mix the yolks, mayo, dijon mustard, salt and pepper, and chives all together and season to taste. You may want to add a little hot sauce for extra kick.

  4. Step 4

Fill the empty egg whites with the mixture and heat some oil in a pan or deep-fryer to medium-high heat or around 350 degrees F (Gas mark 4 / 180 degrees C).

  5. Step 5

Fill 3 bowls with flour (add a little salt and pepper) , 2 beaten eggs, and panko crumbs respectively.

  6. Step 6

Dip each deviled egg in the flour, then the beaten eggs, then the panko crumbs and put them carefully in the heated oil to fry.

  7. Step 7

Fry eggs until golden brown and remove them to a plate with paper towels on it. If you're using a shallow pan without much oil, you may have to turn them. You may want to add a little seasoning on top after you remove them.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't just boil the eggs, take them off the heat when the water reaches a boil and let them stand for 15 minutes or so ... otherwise they will end up like rubber
  • Panko crumbs are basically just flaky breadcrumbs. You can usually find them either with the Asian food or near the regular breadcrumbs
