Things You'll Need:
- Internet
- Cover letter
- Resume
-
Step 1
Research:
According to Forbes.com, there are many companies in need of both entry level and skilled employees. Engineers lead the list under the most recession proof jobs of 2009. Now is the time to finish that engineering degree if you haven't already. President Obama has set billions of dollars aside for massive infrastructure projects including roads and schools. Clean energy research also leads the list of the most recession proof jobs. There are also many government start-up incentives offered to entrepreneurs who want to start a green energy business. -
Step 2
Apply for Work at Home Jobs:
Amazon.com was listed as the most profitable company on MSN.com during the last quarter. Therefore, IT jobs will be big. Some IT jobs allow their employees to work from home. If you can build websites and/or write web content, you can work from home as a freelancer or consultant. As more people lose their jobs, the Internet will be overloaded with job hunters and people will need access to vast amounts of information. Grab a piece of the cyberspace pie and create a name for yourself. -
Step 3
Look for Employment that Caters to Basic Necessity Needs:
People will always have to eat and have access to health care. Look for jobs that cater to peoples' basic needs. The company that manufactures Colgate/Palmolive said that they had a 20% gain last quarter.People will always need to buy toothpaste and dish soap. This proves that people will spend money for basic necessities and will cut luxury items from their shopping lists. Hintz Ketchup also had a modest gain in earnings last quarter. Find these companies and send your resume to them.

on 9/24/2009 Good article. However, a job may be recession proof, but not necessarily the company. 5*

on 9/7/2009 Informative and filled with common sense. But, why not use SPELL-CHECK in your articles? Almost all of them have errors. Ask a friend or neighbor to help you proofread if spelling is not one of your strongest skills. It makes you look less professional, in my view, and also detracts from the value of your article. Good luck to you! (PS: There is no such company called "Hintz". It's "Heinz" actually.)
