Keep a Tan

When you get a tan, you want to keep it. Here is how to extend the life of your tan.

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

When you get tan, you want to keep it. That sun-kissed beautiful glow just makes you look sexy. So, follow these steps and you will be on your way to having that golden tan for a while longer. First things first, make sure your tan is just that, a tan, and not a burn. A burn is when the sun scorches you and leaves a redness to your skin. This is not only very dangerous for your skin, but for your hydration as well.

  2. Step 2

Before tanning, apply a generous amount of sunblock or skin tan lotion. By adding this to your skin, you not only protect it, but you help your skin distinguish a good base you can build color on. Once you have a base in place, it's easier to get color. Next, after you are done tanning, do not exfoliate. If you use exfoliating gels or lotions, you remove skin cells which can make your tan go away quicker. If you want to protect your tan, use a moisturizing lotion to add moisture to your skin. Also, if you are on the older side of thirty, I recommend applying a heavy dosage of wrinkle cream to your eye area after sun exposure. You can never think of fighting those pesky wrinkles too early!

  3. Step 3

The all-around best way to keep a tan is to build it up gradually. If you tan once, your tan will vanish quickly. However, by doing multiple sessions in the sun (or tanning bed) you will keep adding to your base and therefore adding a layer to your tan, in essence. Always remember the moisturizing cream, its fantastic for your skin in more aspects then just tanning.

Tips & Warnings
  • Apply a generous amount of moisturizing cream
  • Avoid overexposure to the sun
