The best comparison is that spraying foam is like spraying paint. Here are the basic steps for Foam It Green do it yourself foam insulation:

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Foam It Green DIY Spray Foam Insulation Kit
  1. Step 1

Use the temperature strip to make sure the tanks are at the right temperature (between 60-80 degrees). They can be warmed or cooled to get them into the zone.

  2. Step 2

Attach the 2 hoses to the spray foam tanks. This is done with the wrench that's supplied in the kit.

  3. Step 3

Open the valves to both chemical tanks. All you have to do is twist the valve by hand.

  4. Step 4

Place a mixing nozzle on the face of the gun. The nozzle just clips on to the gun.

  5. Step 5

Stand 18 to 24 inches away from the surface to be foamed.

  6. Step 6

Spray a 1 inch bead around the perimeter of the area you wish to cover.

  7. Step 7

With a back-and-forth motion, fill in the area from top to bottom. Spray it on thinly like paint, and the foam will rise 6:1 to end up about an inch tall.

  8. Step 8

Let the foam cure for 20 minutes. If you want a higher r-value, just spray on another thin coat and then you have it.
