How to Install Yahoo DSL Wireless
The required equipment for the AT&T Yahoo DSL service comes packaged in a do-it-yourself installation kit. The standard kit includes a DSL modem, line filters and the cables. Wireless routing capabilities are built into the modem, allowing laptops and portable devices to connect to the Internet. The modem also provides standard Ethernet ports for traditional wired connectivity.

Plug each phone in the house into a filter. The phone line coming from the telephone connects to the jack on the filter labeled "Phone." The filter then plugs into a wall jack. These filters split the high frequency of the DSL signal from the low frequency of the telephones. Without one installed on each phone, neither the DSL connection nor the phones will work properly.

Connect the wireless DSL modem's AC adapter into a power outlet. Plug a phone cord into the jack on the modem and into one of the filters. This time, use the jack labeled "DSL." Plug the filter into a phone line. Finally, connect a computer to the modem using the included Ethernet networking cable. The wireless capabilities of the modem won't be usable until it has been configured, which requires a wired connection.

Insert the setup CD. Follow the on-screen instructions to configure and activate the connection. You will need your username and password, which were assigned to you when you ordered the service. Once the installer has completed, the connection will be online. You can connect to the modem with any wireless device.
