Rhinestones are an inexpensive way to have beautiful gemlike stones that won't break the bank. Rhinestones are common in costume jewelry and cowboy apparel, hence the "Rhinestone Cowboy" hit of 1975. Rhinestones were originally harvested from the Rhine River as crystal rocks that had a metallic powder on them to make them look like diamonds. These crystal stones require special care but can last for years if maintained properly.
