Things You'll Need:
- Fence post digger Level Broom handle String Tape measure
-
Step 1
Measure the perimeter of the area you want to encompass with vinyl fence. Figure in the width of each vinyl connecting panel and width of each vinyl post (so the posts and full panels fill each side and there is not like a need for a half panel length).
-
Step 2
Dig a corner post hole. Dig the hole with a diameter 3 inches greater than the post size. Dig the hole the correct depth so the the vinyl panel connections are just above the ground.
-
Step 3
Place the corner vinyl post in the hole. Pry the post toward yourself. Stand the post up and use the level to make sure it is perfectly upright.
-
Step 4
Scoop some dirt into the hole. Tamp the dirt tightly around the vinyl post with the broom handle. Put another scoop of dirt in the hole and pack it tightly into the hole. Continue this until the hole is full.
-
Step 5
Take the side measurement as determined in Step 1 and measure from the post you installed to where the corner post on the other end of this side will be. Mark this area with the post hole digger.
-
Step 6
Dig and install the other corner post as you did in Step 2, 3 and 4.
-
Step 7
Tie a string around the top of the corner post and run it to the other corner post and tie it to that post's top also. This will act as a guide to install the rest of your fence posts straight.
-
Step 8
Measure the distance of a vinyl connector panel and install the next vinyl fence post. Do this the entire length of the side.
-
Step 9
Hang the vinyl connector panels in between each post and bolt them into place.
-
Step 10
Repeat these steps to build each side of the fence. Remember to use corner posts (panel connections on two sides of the post near each other) on the corners and and middle posts (panel connections on the opposite sides of the post) in between the span of corner posts.
