The Audiobook format is especially handy because of the ability to categorize and index the file so that the Audiobook file will remember where you left off the last time you listened to the Audiobook. Using iTunes on a Mac, converting any audio file to an Audiobook file is a snap.

  1. Step 1
    Launch iTunes
    Launch iTunes

    In an open "Finder" window, click on "Applications" and scroll down to "iTunes." Double-click "iTunes" to launch the applications.

  2. Step 2
    Select the File for Audiobook conversion.
    Select the File for Audiobook conversion.

    In the "iTunes" window, select the audio file you wish to convert from a standard audio file (mp3, aiff, wav, mp4, etc...).

  3. Step 3
    Select Get Info
    Select Get Info

    Right-click or ctrl-click on the file name to bring up the "contextual menu" and select "Get Info" in the pop-up menu, release the mouse or trackpad button to open the "Get Info" window.

  4. Step 4
    Select Audio Book
    Select Audio Book

    In the "Get Info" window, click the "Media Kind" pop-up menu and select "Audiobook" and release the mouse or trackpad button to make it active. Click the "OK" button to make your selection active. The audio file will be instantly converted to the Audiobook format.
