After you have chosen your fabric, remove the child safety seat from the car. Remove the straps and belts so that the cushion can be removed from the seat. Using your measuring tape, measure the cushion to determine how much of your fabric you will need to make the slipcover. Be sure to include an additional 1 1/2 inches of fabric all four sides. This extra fabric will be folded under for sewing and adding elastic.

Transfer the measurements to your fabric and cut out your piece of fabric. Be sure to mark the spots and cut out the holes for the straps and belts to be reinserted. Fold the edges of the fabric over and sew a small pocket along the outer edge of the fabric. Leave an opening at the other end so that the elastic can be attached at both ends. Next fold and sew under the fabric around the openings for the straps and belts. Next take the elastic and attach the safety pin to one end and thread it through the pocket until it comes out the opposite end. Finally sew the two ends of the elastic together and sew the opening closed.
