How to Detox the Body of Bad Food
Bad eating habits can become an addiction that for some, is harder to break than smoking. It takes a lot of mental strength and willpower to turn down a friend's request to go the Chinese buffet on your lunch break. It's harder still to turn down freshly made donuts that your boss brought in to celebrate his promotion. If you are looking to detox bad food from your body, then it all starts with the right game plan.

1
Get a journal. Use this to monitor all of your food choices. Write down all the foods that you are eating that you consider to be bad. This can be deep fried foods, processed foods, refined foods, gravies, sauces and salad dressings. Also list beverages such as soda, alcohol, energy drinks and anything that is high in calories with no nutritional value.

2
Substitute your bad food choices. Now that you have listed the bad foods in your diet, find healthy substitutes for them. Write these down in the journal right across from the bad foods. An example would be substituting ice cream with low fat frozen yogurt or substituting apple pie with a warm mashed apple with cinnamon. Whenever you come across a food that is bad, just cross reference it to a healthy alternative.

Drink more water. This will help for a number of reasons. First of all, it will aid in flushing the body of toxins and impurities. Drinking water with meals will help to fill you up so you will be less apt to eat as much of the bad foods. As an added benefit, water helps promote weight loss.

Always carry a pack of gum. This works well if you happen to have a sugar craving in the afternoon. Whenever you are subjected to a bad food, such as cheesecake for example, chew a piece of gum. This will give you a little bit of sweetness to satisfy your craving and the chewing will give you the sensation that you are eating something.

Do a cleanse. A quick way to jump start your efforts to eliminate bad foods from your diet is by doing an actual detox. They generally last 7 to 28 days. They promote the function of the kidneys, liver and lymph system which helps to further flush impurities from the body. During the duration of a detox you eat nothing but clean foods.

Tips & Warnings
The journal doesn't have to be anything elaborate. It would probably be most convenient to carry a small, pocket sized notepad with you. All you need is enough room to write down your foods.
If you decide to do a detox, be aware of withdrawal symptoms that are generally attached to them. These might include headaches, brain fog, upset stomach and irritability.
