How to Make Tutu Hair Accessories

Frilly ponytail holders are a fun fashion accessory for little girls. Tying their hair back into a plain ponytail can be instantly transformed into an exciting and fashionable hairstyle when you add a colorful tutu hair accessory.

Instead of purchasing these hair accessories, here is a simple way to make your own. If you have the materials, you can finish a hair band in about 10 minutes.

Things You'll Need

• 1/4 yard of tulle Elastic hair band Scissors Tape measure

Instructions

1. Cut 1 by 10 inch strips of tulle. You will need approximately 30 strips of tulle to cover a large-sized elastic hair band.

2. Fold a strip of tulle in half widthwise (so that it is 5 inches long).

3. Insert the folded end of the strip through the center of the elastic band. Push it through approximately 2 inches.

4. Grasp the tails of the strip and insert them through the loop from the folded end of the strip. Pull the tails all the way through and pull them tight to attach the strip to the elastic band.

5. Repeat Steps 3 and 4 with the remaining strips to completely cover the elastic band with tulle.

6. Fluff out the tulle strips to make them look like a full tutu. Trim as necessary.
