How to Restore Rundll32.Exe for Windows XP

Dynamic Link Library (file extension ".dll") files are part of every application on your computer and are used to store the application logic. It's impossible to manually launch such files, therefore the "Rundll32.exe" file is used to launch these files automatically. As you see, without this executable file your computer may not be working right.
If you have accidentally deleted the "Rundll32.exe" file you must locate a copy of the file in one of the Windows folders on your C: drive. Then you need to copy the file and transfer it to the correct location.

      Go to the "Start" menu.

      Click "My Computer."

      Double-click on the "C:" drive.

      Double-click on the "Windows" folder.

      Double-click the "System 32" folder.

      Double-click on the "Dllcache" folder.

      Locate the Rundll32.exe file, right-click on it and then select "Copy."

      Click on the "Back" button in the Windows Explorer to get back to the "System 32" folder.

      Right-click any open space and then click "Paste."

  • Be very careful when performing this operation not to delete or relocate any other files.
