How to Remove the UPS Virus

  1. Step 1

Download and save SDFix to your computer desktop. Once the file is on your desktop, double-click the folder and click run. Follow the prompts and reboot your desktop in safe mode.

  2. Step 2

Reboot your computer in safe mode by repeatedly clicking the F8 key when your computer displays the flashing cursor in the upper righthand corner of your screen. After your computer receives your command, it will display a new screen that gives you different options. Enter the number associated with safe mode.

  3. Step 3

Press the number to start the computer in safe mode. When the computer is done and you are in safe mode, click on your start menu and click on Run. Enter C:\SDFix\RunThis.bat and click OK to start the script.

  4. Step 4

Begin the process to remove any registry entries or Trojan services that were found on your computer. When the screen prompts you to reboot, do so.

  5. Step 5

After the computer reboots, the Fixtool will start running to complete the process. When the tool is done, it will tell you it is finished. Then just click any key to end the script. Do not click any keys while the script Fixtool is running until instructed that the tool is done.

  6. Step 6

Loading of the icons on the desktop will now start. After everything is done, a report will open for you to see what has been done.

Tips & Warnings
  • After your computer has rebooted after the fix, run your anti-virus software to make sure everything is fixed, if the software has been updated with the new data pack that includes the UPS virus. If not, you can run Kaspersky (see resource box). If you have an anti-virus protection, it may not have been updated to catch the virus.
  • Some users have had success after opening the UPS virus by restoring the computer back to the previous boot. This might not always work.
