How to Put a Strap on an Electric Guitar
Using a strap when you play electric guitar is a must if you plan to stand while you're playing. Most guitar players want the freedom to move around the area (or stage), which is exactly what a strap allows you to do. Attaching a strap is a fairly easy process, but it must be done correctly or you stand the chance of your instrument dropping to the ground.

1
Find the end of the strap closest to the adjustable buckle. Slip it over the end pin closest to the neck of your electric guitar. (You will see a button-sized hole in both ends of your strap, which makes this possible.)
-
2
Toss the free end of the strap over the shoulder of your fretting hand.
-
-
3
Reach around and pull the free end of the strap back around to your front underneath the arm on your picking hand's side.
-
4
Slip the hole in the free end of the strap over the end pin at the base of your electric guitar.
-
5
Hold the guitar in both hands and pull downward with a firm motion three or four times. This will test the strap to make sure that it's attached properly and not going to slip off the guitar.
-
6
Adjust the length of the strap if necessary. Do this by sliding the adjustable buckle to shorten (or lengthen) the strap.
