How to Set Up a Web Host Service
If you are interested in having a website of your own, a key component of that is having a web host service. In order to display your website online, you have to host it on the server of a web hosting company. There are many available options when it comes to choosing a web host service, but setting up that service is the same regardless of the company you choose for your web hosting needs.

1
Go to the website of your selected web host service provider and sign up for a hosting plan. Typically you will need a credit or debit card to pay for the service, however some web host service providers accept PayPal for payment. Most web hosting companies offer plan terms of 1 to 2 years.
-
2
Choose a user name and password that you will use for your web host service account. You will use these to login to your hosting account to do everything from setting up website email accounts to checking your website stats to FTP access.

3
Purchase a domain name to host with your new web host service. In some instances, web hosts offer free domains with the purchase of a web hosting plan. If you do not get a free domain with your plan, you can purchase one from any of a number of domain sellers, called registrars.
-
4
Link your domain to your web hosting service. You do this by updating your domain hosting location, called nameservers, with the web host service provider. If you are using a free domain from the web host service provider, you will not need to do this.

5
Set up your site with your web host service. Use an FTP program, such as CuteFTP or net2ftp, to upload your website files that you have created for your site to the server at your new web host. Most web host service providers email directions on how to FTP files to your new account when you sign up for a new web hosting plan.

Tips & Warnings
Choosing a web host that offers a free domain eliminates the need to link the domain to the web host service provider.
