Things You'll Need:
- iPod Nano replacement screen Small Philips screwdriver iPod case opener tool
-
Step 1
Insert the case opener tool in the groove that runs all around the iPod. Run the case opener tool around your iPod Nano in order to separate the white plastic front cover from the metal backing. After you loosen the bezel tabs holding the two parts together, you will be able to pull apart the front from the back.
-
Step 2
Locate the three small screws holding the motherboard to the front of your iPod Nano. Two of the screws are exactly the same and are located on the bottom of your iPod. The other screw is slightly different and is located in the middle of your iPod near the right edge. Using your screwdriver, remove these three screws.
-
Step 3
Locate the small ribbon at the bottom of the motherboard, near the charging area of the iPod. Find the black latch located behind the ribbon. Move the latch up and then remove the ribbon from the motherboard.
-
Step 4
Locate the other ribbon in the middle of the motherboard that is connected to the white front of the iPod. Find the latch behind that and move it up to also slide out this ribbon. The motherboard should now be able to be completely removed from the white plastic front of your iPod Nano.
-
Step 5
Firmly pull your iPod Nano screen to remove it from the white plastic cover. The screen is held with an adhesive, so you may need to pull quite hard.
-
Step 6
Press hard to attach your new iPod Nano replacement screen to the white plastic casing. Re-insert the ribbons into the appropriate latches on your motherboard. Screw the motherboard into the front cover with the three screws you previously removed. Securely press the metal backing of your iPod into your front cover until it snaps back into place.
