Sending thank you notes is an important gesture that should not be overlooked. When all of the activity and excitement of a wedding begins to settle, the final step of the entire wedding is to write a thank you note to express your thanks for each gift you received.

While this may be an overwhelming task if you received many gifts, doing a few every day should get the job finished before long.

Here are some guidelines for how to write thank you notes for wedding gifts.

Things You'll Need:

  • Thank you cards Quality pen
  1. Step 1

Write your thank you notes as soon as possible after receiving the gifts.

If you receive wedding gifts before the event, it is a good idea to write these thank you notes when you open these gifts. Begin writing the thank you notes for the gifts received at the wedding as soon as you possibly can. Mail the thank you notes as you finish them.

  2. Step 2

Write all of the thank you notes by hand. Address all of the envelopes by hand. It is best to use actual thank you cards for your thank you notes.

  3. Step 3

Begin each thank you note by personally greeting the recipient. Add a sentence that thanks them for being at the wedding, if applicable.

  4. Step 4

Thank the gift-giver for the gift and name the gift specifically in the sentence. Mention why you like the gift, how you are using it or where you are keeping it.

  5. Step 5

Close the thank you note in a friendly manner and sign both newlywed's names to the card.

  6. Step 6

Make a realistic goal of a specific number of thank you notes to finish each day. Work at it every day and the task of completing your thank you notes will be finished before you know it.
