Over time, coffee pots have a tendency to acquire a nasty buildup of mineral deposits and limescale. Ensure that the coffee pot is completely emptied out. Remove any old coffee grounds and make sure there is no residual coffee in the pot.

Pour vinegar into the basin and turn on the coffee pot as though you were making a pot of coffee. Use enough vinegar to fill the coffee pot.

Pour out the vinegar once the coffee maker is finished with the cycle.

Run plain water through the coffee pot in the same manner, like brewing a pot of coffee with no coffee grounds. This will help remove any residual limescale.

Wash the pot by hand with warm soapy water and dry well.

Tips & Warnings
If the coffee pot hasn't been cleaned in over a month, it may be a good idea to run the vinegar through it twice. Coffee pots should be cleaned monthly.
